My Story....
Growing up in Southeast Tennessee in the little town of Jasper was different. I never really knew my purpose in life was until I was ten years old when I was invited and I attended a small Church of God in Sequatchie, Tennessee with my aunts, Barbara and Ozzella. It was a Wednesday night in the middle of a tent revival when I accepted Christ into my life. I can't tell you the exact date or time but I can take you to the place that God made me a new creature in Him. I continued going to Church a few months after that then I quit going for a couple years.
The Call of God
At the age of twelve I had a friend invite me to Coppinger Cove Baptist Church in Sequatchie, Tennessee. After becoming a member and attending church that's when on February 28, 1996, I announced that God placed a call on my life. At the age of fifteen I was to start something that to most teenagers would be the very last thing on their mind, that was to Preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a Lost and Dying World. At this point God started to expand my ministry,Christ OutReach Ministries, now Victor Levan Ministries, that He gave to me in 1995.
Spiritual Warfare
I took the call God gave me and started working for the Lord, but I hadan issue bothering me of religion and homosexuality. This would eventually sidetrack my view from the Lord. I tried to be the person everyone thought that I should be by ignoring the feelings and living a "Normal Life". Was it that I never really got salvation? Why was I faced with two issues that butted heads in the eyes of the world? My salvation came clear to me when I preached on Sunday morning at a Baptist Church in Jasper, Tennessee. The pastor came up to me and said that he saw Jesus in my message and from that point I have never doubted my salvation. I still continued to fight this battle by pushing away the lifestyle.
Running Away
After a few years of trying to please others I decided to just say OK, I lived as they wanted me to now its times to make me happy. I decided to move to Nashville, Tennessee so that I could be Victor, an experience that I had never tried. Once in Nashville I did what my intent was and that was to attend college. Living as a loner in Nashville for the first time, and being the person I wanted to be, or thought I should be, I experimented with it all. So many times I should have been dead, but by Gods grace I was spared time and time again.
Moving Back Home
While living in Nashville it came to a point were I just could no longer keep going in the direction I was going. My finances and my health were failing. I was having so many thoughts that just made me to want to give up on life. At this point in my life I had no other choice but to move back to Chattanooga. I moved back home with a "friend", Larry, and that's when I finally started to gather the pieces of my life and put them back in order. I got a job and started working at Erlanger Hospital through the help of my friend, Paul. I started going to therapy and to see a psychiatrist.
A New Beginning
At this time I was diagnosed manic depressive. I was prescribed and began to take antidepressants. It seemed as my problems got better, but about eight months into taking the medication, it seemed like my problems took a turn for the worse. I was pushing the ones I loved away. A few months after I moved back home I met a guy, Ian, that introduced me to Covenant Of Hope Fellowship, a Church in McDonald, Tennessee. I would like to say thank you to family and friends that never gave up on me, especially to my buddy The Late Hayne R. Young that God sent to me through my radio show that I had at W.J.O.C. and Jamey that has always been there to listen and never judge me.
Prophecy
On March 21, 2004, was a day that God would turn my life back around and put it on the path that He wanted me on by renewing and strengthening my faith. So many things tried to prevent me from going to church that Sunday morning, but God managed to get me to where He wanted me and that was at Covenant of Hope Fellowship. There a man of God from the Northern Virginia, Washington, DC area would come and preach a message on Matthew 6:24-35 on how to overcome anxiety and depression, and also bring to me a word of prophecy from God. I felt that the message was meant for me. I cried through the whole service as God opened my heart to accept His word that was being delivered to me through His servant. At the end of the service Apostle Dale came to me and told me that the call God placed on my life was still there that God did, was, and will use me for His glory. He told me to not worry about the battle that I was fighting.
God Loves You!
People may doubt as they read this but let me tell you, Greater is he that is in you and I than he that is in the world. The Bible tells me this in I John 4:4. There is a reason that these words are in front of you. If you are struggling over issues claim Gods promises. Maybe you have never experienced the love of God? A love that surpasses all understanding. My friend I invite you to know this same Lord that I know today by asking him right now to come into your heart and life and save you from that place of torment called hell. God loves you and don't let anyone tell you any different, because you are precious in his sight. John 3:16.
Claim Gods Promises and You too My Friend Can Be a Victor!
